Leaders of the Americas Establish Regional Cooperation on Carbon Pricing

On December 12, during the One Planet Summit in Paris, leaders of several governments from North, Central, and Latin America committed to a regional cooperative framework called Carbon Pricing in the Americas. The cooperative seeks to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement by advancing the implementation and development of regional carbon markets. In partnership with private and public stakeholders, member states aim to better align carbon pricing policies and initiatives with the end goal of linking their individual carbon markets. Signatories include Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, México, the Governors of California and Washington, and the Premiers of Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec.
