A new study out of Michigan State University found a correlation between a state’s “environmentalism” and lower greenhouse gas emissions between 1990 and the present. Emissions typically rise with population and economic strength, but the study found that greater environmentalism can neutralize those emissions without inhibiting growth. The research used Congressional voting data to determine a state’s environmental orientation.
